Special Education Teacher in Adapted Primary School

About the Position
As a special education teacher, you will teach students with special support needs. You have a good understanding of children's development and learning, and you can identify individual needs at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In this role, you will conduct educational assessments, design action plans, and follow up and evaluate implemented measures. You will work together with a group of teaching assistants and a student group that studies subjects or subject areas within the framework of adapted primary school.
Examples of Responsibilities:
- lead and coordinate teaching assistants in daily work
- work proactively and preventively, supporting the development of pedagogical work to meet the needs of all students
- follow up and evaluate implemented measures and monitor efforts at the organizational, group, and individual levels
- demonstrate an advanced ability to tailor approaches for children and students in need of special support and show the ability to critically review and apply methods for assessing children's and students' language, writing, reading, or mathematics development
- be a qualified conversation partner and advisor based on specialization
- conduct educational assessments in collaboration with the student health team regarding needs for special support related to language, writing, reading, or mathematics development for students
- be familiar with and follow the organization's applicable laws, policies, and procedures
- work and document in the existing operational systems

Brickebackens adapted primary school currently has about 60 students and an equal number of staff in various professions. The overarching goal of the organization is to support students in their overall development as a solid foundation for a meaningful adult life. We have students studying subjects and subject areas from grades 1-9.

Qualifications
As a special education teacher with us, you are a secure, stable, and attentive person who communicates clearly and creates a calm and safe learning environment. You collaborate well with colleagues in various professions while also being able to work independently and structure your tasks. You have a good understanding of children's development and learning and can adapt teaching to meet both group and individual needs. You are engaged, positive, and contribute to a stimulating learning environment where ideas are valued. Furthermore, you have good digital skills to document in our operational systems and strong proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
Requirements:
- teacher certification with authorization to teach in primary school, or an equivalent qualification that entitles you to teacher certification
- special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities (ID)
If you do not already have a special education degree focusing on ID, you will need to acquire that competence over time in combination with the job.
Meritorious:
- experience working in adapted primary school
- experience with Guiding Interaction (ICDP) and low-arousal approaches
- knowledge of sign language and visual support
